If you’ve been following me here on The Fun Times Guide to Healthy Living, then you probably know that I’ve been trying to do a better job of eating healthier foods, including organic desserts.

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking – “This guy wants to eat healthier food… and now he’ looking for dessert?” OK, I know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to some people for me to want a healthier body and then go ahead and eat dessert, too.

However, those who know me are also aware that I believe in moderation. In other words, there’s nothing wrong with eating the foods you like, as long as you do so in healthy proportions. After all, we’re all entitled to indulge on a dessert every once in awhile.

So, if it’s time to enjoy the sweeter things in life, why not organic desserts?

Personally, I don’t think there’s anything very sweet about engorging oneself on desserts that contain ingredients with too many syllables. You know, those super-long words that if kids on the annual televised spelling bee had to spell them, you’d be on your seat with every sounded-out letter? Anyone who can spell dimethylpolysiloxane unaided should win a prize, if you ask me!

Most the food that I cook on the stovetop and in the oven comes out a box or bag, but that doesn’t mean I can’t eat healthfully, too.

So, here are 4 organic desserts that you can pick up at your grocery store and prepare in no time:

#1 – Organic Cookies

With no artificial flavoring or color and no preservatives, Pillsbury Simply… Cookies are my new go-to cookie dough.

Right now, there are just 2 varieties of Pillsbury organic cookies: chocolate chip and peanut butter. I’ve got a hunch that more flavors will follow, though.

I’ve already tried the chocolate chip variety and now I’m looking for the peanut butter version.

I really do think that the organic chocolate chip cookies taste better and have a creamier consistency than the ones I’m used to having. Seems like I can enjoy cookies without the partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil after all.

#2 – Organic Ice Cream

Ice cream is ice cream, fat, sugar, and all, but nothing tastes like a scoop of organic ice cream.

Just think… Organic ice cream. That sounds healthy, right?

Well, I guarantee you organic ice cream is better than a scoop of ordinary ice cream – you know, the kind that contains mono and diglycerides?

The idea that Straus offers organic days of yore definitely makes me scream for some organic ice cream. And now you, can, too.

Straus organic ice cream can be found in its distinctive red-labeled cartons in your grocer’s frozen dairy section.

#3 – Organic Chocolate Cake

Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it, too? I eat every cake that comes my way, including organic cake.

So, guess what’s now available at your local grocer? Organic cake!

Do you know Amy’s – the frozen organic burrito and enchilada people? Well, now they’re making organic cake.

Amy’s chocolate cake contains no GMOs, no unusual multi-syllabic ingredients, and makes a great dessert, too.

#4 – Organic Milk Shakes

If you like to indulge on a milk shake every now and then, Sneakz milk shakes maybe a good idea for you.

They offer a line of organic milk shakes that are chocolate flavored and also contain vegetables.

What? Yes, you read that correctly. Their veggie shakes taste like chocolate!

They are also GMO, antibiotic, and synthetic hormone free. So pack one for a special after-lunch treat that you can actually feel good about.
